A warm welcome to Ward Smeets and Edwin Peeters, who join our team as master graduate interns Engineering Technology [Electromechanics: Design + Production]!

Since August 2022, the Tacon & Matrixtape team has been strengthened for a one-year period by 2 internship students, Ward Smeets & Edwin Peeters. As their final project, they will participate in the development, construction and optimization of a new converting machine.

In the past, Ward & Edwin obtained a Professional Bachelor in Electromechanics at the Hogeschool UCLL (BE). After this training, they decided to complete a transition year at the joint training of Hasselt University & KU Leuven: Industrial Engineering Sciences – Electromechanics (IIW-EM). The current thesis is part of a master’s thesis for the finalization of the master’s program IIW-EM, with a focus on design and production.

A word from Ward & Edwin:

We are both highly motivated to start our master’s thesis at Tacon & Matrixtape. Our main interest lies in designing + building machines, in which we now have the opportunity to gain experience in this branch of the industry. We do not shy away from getting our hands dirty ourselves, and we are happy to help the company where necessary. We are looking forward to the coming period, in which we will hopefully learn a lot and make a nice contribution to this company!

This master’s thesis fits into Tacon & Matrixtape’s strategy of innovation in process development and optimization in industrial tapes and technical film conversion for the medical, automotive, construction, packaging and other industries.

We are looking forward to a great collaboration and are confident that Ward & Edwin can deliver great results in this thesis! Good luck!
